You think you are looking at me?

Are you doing this too?

If you know Tom Rizk, tell him I can coach him to improve his success on interviews and virtual meetings.

If you know Tom Rizk, tell him I can coach him to improve his success on interviews and virtual meetings.

I am not taking advantage of Mr. Rizk. This isn’t just a single moment he was looking away from the camera. He did the entire interview ignoring the viewer and the host.

Not on purpose, I’m sure.

I know he is looking at the host, or himself, but he is not looking at anyone watching this interview. He is looking at a video image.

Why? He needs coaching. Going from being a great live event presenter to a virtual event presenter requires specific training and some practice.

Thinking you are speaking to the audience via TV or in a virtual meeting while scanning the faces below your camera is a fundamental barrier to success. Even if it feels good.

Don’t look here

Don’t look here

You are so much more successful reaching your audience when you are looking directly at the camera just above the bevy of faces below it.

Dr. Fauci spent hours testifying to Congress from his office. I don’t recall he directly addressed any Representative during the long day.

Who was he talking to?

Who was he talking to?

This is just one of the many distractions we encounter during a virtual event.

I have been coaching corporate executives, entry level personnel, medical professionals, sales staff, professors and association executives for over 20 years.

That training was captured in my book “On-The-Job Speech Training” available on special order.

All of a sudden we have a new venue to train for. Transferring live presentation skills to the virtual world isn’t automatic.

Send me a note introducing yourself, or your boss, so we can setup some training time, virtually of course.
